Reiki Treatment
Reiki treatments differ in length, focus and intention
A session can range from 20 minutes to 60 minutes or more. It depends on the practitioner and is entirely up to the client’s need and the practitioner’s preference. The most common type of session focuses on the whole body and usually last about 1 hour.
The practitioner typically works from the top down, starting with the head, all the way down to the feet. This is done in both distance and in-person sessions. To channel the reiki energy into the specific body regions, the practitioner uses hand placements during in-person treatment, and visualization and intention for a distance session.
Personal Touch
Every practitioner adds their individual touch to how they perform their session. I like to add crystals to enhance the healing and oracle cards to work out a focus or set an intention.
I begin each session with a body scan. This allows me to identify specific energy points where the energy might be flowing less. Once I feel an energy point, I start channeling reiki into that specific area of the body.
Once the area is improved, I start working from the chakras on the top down and continue with the hand placements on the head, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral, and finally the root chakra region.
Distance vs. In-Person Reiki
Distance sessions allow you to be in the comfort of your own home and are sometimes easier to manage for clients. They can be performed synchronously, where the practitioner and client meet at the same time; or asynchronously, where the practitioner sends reiki and the client receives whenever they are ready at a later time. This means I can send reiki energy in the morning and you can decide you want to receive it in the evening before bed.
Duration
For full-body sessions, at least 45 minutes are recommended. During shorter sessions, whole body treatment are still possible. Sometimes, the practitioner has to prioritize body regions during shorter sessions if a stagnant energy point is present.
Shorter sessions are well suited for a specific focus, which can either be worked out beforehand, or can be decided intuitively during a session. Another option is to set the intention for the reiki to flow where it’s needed in a shorter tune-up session.
My options
My offers range from 30 minutes to 45 minutes for distance sessions. In-person sessions usually run 60 minutes for full-body treatments. They include prepping the session with the client and a brief discussion after.
Children usually receive 20 minute treatment sessions. Pet sessions can be arranged for 15-20 minutes–the pet decides how long they want the reiki to flow.
