Happy First Full Moon of 2022
The universe is always talking to us—all we need is listen to her whispers.
I am typing this on the night of the first full moon of 2022—on January 17th. The wolf moon, as it is called, is in the sign of cancer, which happens to be my sun sign.
As a cancer sun I really relate to this energy of the nurturer, the mother, the caretaker. So this full moon really speaks to my nature. But, more than my personal connection to it, this moon hold special significance.
As the first full moon of the year it communicates something to us.
I believe that this full moon serves as a reminder as to where we need to place our energy currently—and maybe even for the whole year.
Of course, energy will move, change, rise and fall, wax and wane. But, I believe this energy of nurturing [ourselves] is going to be significant this year again—as we enter year 3 in the pandemic.
While, during the beginning of 2020, everyone was finally talking about going inward, taking some time, and slowing down we moved right back into the same old same old patterns once a few months have passed. The vaccine became available and things started opening up.
In fact, everyone was eager to move back to “normal.”
Anyhow, it has become apparent that many of us are done with the former status quo, the old way of doing things. And many of us long for a stronger connection to the intuitive, our inner world and nature, and thus deeper alignment. That is, in a nutshell what this cancer energy during this full moon brings to us.
This energy needs to be upheld this whole year.
So, make room for needs. Nurture your body and your soul with things that you desire. And most importantly, listen to your inner self—your heart. Do not let collective fear, employers’ demands, and unaligned friendships continue to pull you away from yourself. Pay attention to how the universe is guiding you along the way.
I realized it is the universe speaking to me
Last week, I discovered a leak in my kitchen drawer—an old can of mosquito repellant was seeping out into the drawer. The sticky liquid got on to everything surrounding it. It took me about 2 hours to clean it up. Then, the next day, as I was getting ready for some yoga in my living room, I opened up another drawer to grab my yoga band—and lo and behold—discovered another bottle of liquid—this time it was an ear cleaner that belonged to my cat—was also leaking! This time the cleanup wasn’t as bad, but it really caught my attention.
Why did I have 2 leaks in the same day? Well, I realized it’s the universe speaking to me loud and clear!
In fact, it was asking me where my energy was leaking. Where was I putting my energy where it didn’t belong—draining me in return?
Upon reflection, I found my answers, and I invite you to do the same. Notice where you are leaking energy. When do you feel especially drained, frustrated, tired, or uninspired?
Listen to the universe when it speaks to you, and remember this whole year to come back to yourself.
