Group Reiki
What is group reiki and how does it benefit you
In December of last year, I started offering monthly group reiki sessions. As technology or screen free sessions all that was required was for people to sign up, then relax and receive the reiki energy healing at set time and date, in the comfort of their home.
Now, I decided to offer these monthly group sessions as a permanent on-demand offer to my reiki repertoire, that can be ordered at any time. These group sessions can be shared by 2 people—hello, cute date or birthday gift idea—or more.
Group healing can be a wonderful shared experience you can have with friends, partners, or family members during special events and times of need. I offered a group session to my family during Christmas, and while we were not in the same location or even the same continent, the thought of my family receiving healing at the same time was beautiful.
What happens during a group session?
Essentially, a group session does not differ much from an individual reiki session. In my practice, I start each session with an energetic cleansing. This can be a simple breathing and movement exercise with the intention to clear mine- and participants’ energy field. Or, it can involve smoke from incense, sage, or the like and meditation or prayer.
Next, I start scanning the energetic body of all participants. This means I scan the “group” body as opposed to scanning one single person. Usually, whatever is most dominant in the group will come up during this scan. For instance, if the majority of participants feel scattered or their thoughts are racing, I will sense it in the correlating chakra. So, once I identify an area in need, I will channel energy to that chakra. Racing thoughts could come up in the crown or 3rd-eye, as well as the throat chakra. I might not specifically know it is racing thoughts, but I will sense where the energy needs to be sent.
Additionally, I might utilize tools, such as oracle cards, which can give me more insight as to what the group is going through at the time of the session. I like pulling cards either before I send the energy for intention setting, or after, to gain more insight as to what is currently needed by the group.
Honoring Individual Requests for the Benefit of All
Optionally, before group sessions, participants can voice particular concerns and ask for energy healing to be sent according to their specific intention. In that case, as I am working on each chakra, I can particularly focus on the specific wish voiced by the person prior.
For instance, if a person has issues with lower back pain, I can channel energy to their lower back with the intention to ease the pain, while working on the sacral and root chakra. Furthermore, I can include anyone else who might need energy sent to the lower chakras or has back pain.
A group session is a great way to share the energy healing experience while still being able to honor individual requests. Plus, the cost for the session can be split amongst participants and is a great budget-friendly way to be able to enjoy energy healing.
